HOW TO CLEAN A STAINLESS STEEL TUMBLER

A stainless steel travel mug is a good investment because a quality mug will last for years. It can keep hot and cold water, is perfect for everyday use, and is easy to bring anywhere indoors, outdoors, sports, traveling, camping, driving & office. Not only is it better for your health, but you're also doing your part to reduce plastic waste and help the environment for future generations.

The problem is that after a period of use, your tumblers can sometimes get dirty and even smell if you don't take care of them. So we’re listing the different ways how to clean a stainless steel tumbler to ensure drinks stay fresh.

WASH WITH LIQUID SOAP

The easiest way to clean your stainless steel water bottle is to wash it with liquid soap and water. Fill the sink with warm water, then add about 1 tablespoon of liquid soap.  You can soak the cup for about 5 minutes before cleaning it with a sponge or soft-bristle brush.  The airtight cap also traps different types of dirt, so be careful about corners when scrubbing. Rinse under running water, then let the cup and lid air dry overnight. You can also use a towel to dry items quickly.

CLEAN USING VINEGAR AND BAKING SODA

If you want to clean your tumbler with something you already have at home, this method is best for you. All you have to do is add two teaspoons of baking soda to your cup, half filled with warm water. Then fill the solution with vinegar and let it work for 10 minutes. You should notice that the solution becomes fizzy and bubbly, indicating that you have mixed the ingredients correctly. After draining and rinsing the cup, wipe off any remaining stains from your cup.

WASH WITH HYDROGEN PEROXIDE

Hydrogen peroxide is something everyone should use at home because it has many different uses, from first aid to cleaning. To clean a stainless steel mug with hydrogen peroxide, you need to mix it with some baking soda. Add 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide and 2 tablespoons baking soda to your cup. From there, let it soak for about 30 minutes, then wipe the cup clean after emptying the contents.

WHAT NOT TO DO WHEN CLEANING YOUR TUMBLER

While we’ve given you several examples of how you should clean, there are a few common cleaning methods that are not suitable for cleaning tumblers.

Do not use bleach - Bleach breaks down the chromium oxide inside your tumbler. Chromium oxide is what makes stainless steel stainless and without it, your tumbler will rust over time.

Do not use a metal brush or steel wool - Abrasive metals will create scratches in your tumbler that will attract contaminants that become difficult to clean out.

Do not microwave your tumbler - Our tumblers are made of stainless steel which should never be put in the microwave. Metals will deflect microwaves back at the microwave itself, dealing serious damage to your appliance.

Do not use the dishwasher – Even though the stainless steel material is dishwasher safe, the outside print can fade. So hand wash only daily to make sure your mug is still clean but does not affect the print.
